A Year in Pictures & Thoughts... July

Staying busy.  I guess that's the point, right?!? The busier you stay, the less you actually have to think.  I'm pretty sure that was my goal for the summer.

During the last 2 days of June and the first day of July, I helped coach a field hockey tournament in Virginia.  We had 2 teams going.  Our other team won their pool.  We took 4th in ours.  It was a lot of fun. I loved being back in the coaching role!

My parents, brother, and niece Lexi came in on July 2.  We had a cookout that evening for my birthday.  About 15-20 people showed up.  The funny thing is, only a couple of them were ones who were at my birthday dinner. It was a mix of my knitting friends, church friends, and work friends.

I spent the 4th of July and every weekend at Lake Wylie with my friends Kevin and Tina.  I loved just sitting on the dock, getting sun, jumping into the lake, and hanging out with them.

I got to throw out the first pitch at the Hickory Crawdad's baseball game.  It was Jimmy Buffett night and they invited our Parrothead club to come to the game and to have someone throw out the pitch.  Well, I got chosen to do it with another lady from our club.  She was running late and wasn't going to do it.  So, it was just me.  Made me SOOO nervous!  Not to mention there was someone coming to the game who had my nerves on edge anyhow.  So, I did it; threw the ball from the top of the mound to the catcher but too high for a strike... haha.  And, guess what?!?  None of my club members or friends were even in the stadium to see it!  Can you believe it!?!  They missed the whole thing.  Oh well.  We did a pretend one at the end of the game so they could film it... But, still not as good as the real one.

At summer camp it was Superhero Week.  I had so much fun with this!  I made a superhero training obstacle course in the gym where they had to dive threw hoops, jump over buildings, throw things through hoops, do jumping jacks and push-ups and sit-ups, and a whole bunch of other stuff.  They had so much fun!  We also made capes and masks and superhero identities.  By far my favorite week of the summer!

I went to the Rascal Flatts and Sarah Evans concert at the Verizon Ampitheatre with Brittany and 2 of her friends.  It was our annual Rascal Flatts concert.  We went the year before on the weekend of my birthday.  We were in our boots, hats, cut-off jean shorts.  Great concert.  Great friends.
